The file won’t open in SyncToHealth
SyncToHealth opens .fit files and ZIPs that contain them. TCX, GPX and CSV exports won’t work, so export again and choose Export File. If a FIT file still won’t open, tell us what the app says.
Your activities are stored in Garmin Connect as FIT files. Here’s how to get them out and into SyncToHealth, one activity or your whole history.
Use the Garmin Connect website in Safari, then hand the file straight to SyncToHealth.
In Safari, go to connect.garmin.com and sign in.
Open Activities, then All Activities, and tap the activity you want.
Tap the gear icon at the top right and choose Export File.
Tap Download. The ZIP goes to the Downloads folder in the Files app.
In Files, touch and hold the ZIP, tap Share and choose SyncToHealth.
SyncToHealth reads the FIT file inside and shows you a Receipt.
Download the file on your Mac or PC, then move it to your iPhone.
Sign in at connect.garmin.com in any browser.
Choose Activities, then All Activities, and open the activity.
Click the gear icon at the top right and choose Export File.
A ZIP with the FIT file inside downloads to your computer.
Send it to your iPhone with AirDrop, or save it to iCloud Drive.
On your iPhone, open the file and choose SyncToHealth.
.fit file. Either works.Ask Garmin for a copy of your account data. It arrives as one Export Archive, and SyncToHealth reads every FIT file in it.
Open Garmin’s account data management page and sign in.
Choose Export Your Data, then Request Data Export.
Wait for the email with your download link. It usually takes about 48 hours, and can take up to 30 days.
Download the ZIP on your iPhone, or save it to iCloud Drive from a computer.
In Files, share the ZIP with SyncToHealth. No need to unzip it.
Your history is imported with a progress bar. If you leave, it picks up where it stopped.
Make one folder in iCloud Drive, choose it once in SyncToHealth under Folder Watch, and save each new export there. New FIT files, up to two subfolders deep, are imported when you open the app, and sometimes in the background.
“Import FIT files” is an action in the Shortcuts app. Give it files from the share sheet or a folder, and add it to a shortcut, Siri or the Action Button.
SyncToHealth opens .fit files and ZIPs that contain them. TCX, GPX and CSV exports won’t work, so export again and choose Export File. If a FIT file still won’t open, tell us what the app says.
That’s normal. Share or open the ZIP as it is and SyncToHealth reads the FIT files inside. If you’d rather see the file, tap the ZIP in Files to unzip it.
SyncToHealth recognises each activity by the identity inside its FIT file, so importing it again adds nothing twice. “Already in Apple Health” means another app wrote that workout first; here’s how to replace it with the complete one.
