About SyncToHealth

Who makes SyncToHealth?

SyncToHealth is an independent app. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Garmin Ltd. or its subsidiaries, or by Apple Inc. It works with FIT files from Garmin devices, and it doesn’t use any Garmin service or account.

What does SyncToHealth do?

It reads FIT files from your watch or bike computer and writes each activity to Apple Health as a complete workout: the route, the full heart-rate series, power, cadence, running dynamics, laps and more. Every import ends with a Receipt that shows what was written and what was skipped, and why.

What do I need?

An iPhone running iOS 27, and FIT files from your device. SyncToHealth works with FIT files from Garmin devices.

Getting files in

Where do I find my FIT files?

  • One activity: on the Garmin Connect website, open the activity, choose the gear icon, then “Export File”. You get a ZIP with the FIT file inside; open it with SyncToHealth.
  • Your whole history: request a data export of your Garmin account. It arrives as a ZIP, which usually takes about 48 hours and can take up to 30 days. Open or share the ZIP with SyncToHealth and it reads only the FIT files inside.
  • From the device itself: connect it to a computer and copy the files from its Activity folder into a folder in iCloud Drive. Then use Folder Watch or open them from Files.

See the step-by-step export guide, with pictures.

Does it import new workouts by itself?

Not on its own schedule. SyncToHealth never connects to anyone’s cloud, so it only sees files you give it. With Folder Watch, it checks your chosen folder every time you open the app, and sometimes in the background when iOS allows. The Share sheet, Files and the “Import FIT files” shortcut work whenever you use them.

What if I import the same file twice?

Nothing is added twice. Each activity is recognised by the identity stored inside its FIT file, however it reached the app. If a file’s content has changed since the last import, SyncToHealth replaces only its own earlier workout and marks the Receipt “Revised”.

Another app already writes my workouts to Apple Health. What happens?

SyncToHealth doesn’t add a second copy. It marks the import “Already in Apple Health” and its Receipt shows what the existing copy is missing, such as the route or the full heart-rate series. Apple Health only lets the app that wrote a workout delete it, so if you want the complete version, delete the other copy in the Health app and tap Upgrade.
