Privacy Policy
The short version
- SyncToHealth works entirely on your iPhone. Your FIT files, workouts, routes and heart rate are never sent to us or to anyone else by the app.
- There is no account and no SyncToHealth server.
- The app sends two kinds of data off your iPhone, and neither contains health data: crash reports (on by default, and you can turn them off) and anonymous usage statistics (off unless you turn them on).
- If you email us, we receive what you send.
Who is responsible
The publisher of SyncToHealth (“we”, “us”) is the controller for the limited personal data described below. Contact: hello@synctohealth.com.
What stays on your iPhone
SyncToHealth reads the FIT files you give it (through the Share sheet, Files, AirDrop, Mail, Folder Watch or Shortcuts), decodes them on your iPhone and writes workouts to Apple Health on your iPhone. Everything below stays on your device and is never sent to us:
- FIT files. Copies are kept only until their import finishes, and at most 30 days. “Keep original FIT files” is off unless you turn it on. If you do, a copy of each file you import is saved in iCloud Drive › SyncToHealth › Originals (see iCloud below). If iCloud Drive is off, the copies stay inside the app on your iPhone, excluded from backups, and are deleted when you turn the setting off.
- Workouts in Apple Health. What SyncToHealth writes belongs to you and is stored by Apple Health on your device. SyncToHealth also reads your existing workouts, only to avoid adding a second copy and to confirm each import.
- Import history and Receipts. A record of which files were imported and their Receipts. Receipt detail is kept for 24 months, then only the import state remains. Receipts stay on your iPhone and are excluded from backups. A minimal import record (which activities were imported or removed, with no health values, times or sports) syncs through your own private iCloud, so a new or restored iPhone doesn’t import workouts you deleted.
- Folder Watch. If you choose a folder, the app keeps permission to read that one folder and its subfolders up to two levels deep. It only opens files that look like FIT files, never changes anything there, and forgets the folder when you tap “Stop watching”.
Apple Health data is never used for advertising, never sold and never shared with third parties, and SyncToHealth never copies it from Apple Health to iCloud. The only health-related files it can put in iCloud are the original FIT files you choose to keep, described below.
iCloud
If you use iCloud, SyncToHealth stores two things in your private iCloud account: the minimal import record described above and your app settings (such as analytics and crash-report choices). They’re in your own iCloud, which we can’t access. SyncToHealth also creates a SyncToHealth folder in iCloud Drive. It contains the files you put there and, only if you turn on “Keep original FIT files”, an Originals folder with a copy of each FIT file you import. Those copies contain what the FIT file contains, such as heart rate, routes and times. They are your files in your own iCloud Drive: you can see, move or delete them in the Files app, and we can’t access them. Turning the setting off stops new copies and leaves the ones you have alone. Turning off iCloud for SyncToHealth in the Settings app stops all of this.
What leaves your iPhone
Crash reports (Sentry)
When the app crashes or hits a serious error, it sends a technical report to Sentry, hosted in the EU. Reports are scrubbed before they leave your iPhone: they contain no health values, locations, routes, times of your activities, file names or folder names, and no identifier that links them to you. Crash reporting is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings → Privacy.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in finding and fixing defects (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Usage statistics (TelemetryDeck)
If you opt in, the app sends coarse, anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck, such as “an import finished” or “Folder Watch was turned on”. Signals use a hashed, random identifier and never contain health values, locations, file names or activity details. Usage statistics are off by default, and you can turn them on or off at any time in Settings → Privacy.
Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
Diagnostics you choose to send
Settings → Privacy → Export diagnostics creates a report you can preview and share yourself. By default it contains no health values, routes or file names.
Email support
If you email hello@synctohealth.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include. We use it only to answer you. Email to this address is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to our inbox. We keep support email for 24 months after your last message, and delete attachments (such as a FIT file) within 30 days of closing your request.
Legal basis: handling your request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)). If you send us a FIT file or other health information, we process it only with your explicit consent, given by sending it (GDPR Art. 9(2)(a)).
Purchases
SyncToHealth is sold by Apple on the App Store. Apple processes your payment under its own privacy policy. We don’t receive your name, payment details or Apple Account; we only see aggregated sales and refund figures. The app contains no purchase code.

Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, it is protected by the providers’ data processing agreements and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. We will update this policy at least 30 days before adding a new provider.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Because your health data never reaches us, most of these are in your hands on your iPhone:
- Export: the app can export your import history and Receipts. Your workouts can be exported from the Health app.
- Delete: Settings → Privacy lets you clear the import history and, separately, delete the workouts SyncToHealth wrote to Apple Health. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
- Opt out: turn off crash reports or usage statistics in Settings → Privacy.
For anything else, email hello@synctohealth.com. We reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) or the authority where you live.
Children
SyncToHealth is intended for people aged 16 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
